Liam Timmins, managing director of the tree surgery company founded by his father, Stan Timmins, is driving his arboricultural business to new heights with an ever- expanding consultancy services portfolio.

Liam, who was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at the age of 25, decided to diversify his tree surgery business to take on more commercial work during the last year. Previously working on domestic projects, the Blyth-based company, Stan Timmins and Sons is now taking on bigger and more complex commercial clients.

The company’s client list now boasts national construction companies such as Tolent Construction and Persimmon Homes.

Liam explained: “We carry out sensitive site clearance work on new building sites before construction commences. On many of the commercial projects we’ve taken
on we’ve conducted full surveys which include tree appraisals, root protection areas, tree preservation, tree protection, pruning, tree protection fencing, liaising with the landscape architect and general advice on how the trees can be retained in the landscape as well as communications and supervision of the trees during site works as well as nature conservation including working with ecologists.”

Liam manages commercial projects from start to finish and provides full reports to his clients as well as carrying out the work he recommends.

“The commercial projects we’ve carried out recently have involved a great deal of hands-on work for our company – not only recommending the necessary works but liaising with Liam Timmins architects, planning instructions and then monitoring and overseeing the work as it’s carried out by our team,” continued Liam.

Stan Timmins and Son is a well-known tree surgery business in the local area and, despite the recent expansion of the company, still carries out domestic and private development work using the same principles as those used on commercial projects.

Liam said: “Our domestic and private clients are just as important and challenging as the commercialprojects we carry out. We offer aone-stop-shop for small developers and householders carrying out extensions – if there are any arboriculture issues involved, we can help.”
