Bond Timber first to achieve TDCA DeckMark Plus accreditation via new Benchmark route

Timber Decking and Cladding Association (TDCA) member, Bond Timber is the very first business to achieve DeckMark Plus accreditation under a new category that focuses on preservative treated softwood decking already holding the Wood Protection Association’s Benchmark certification.

The TDCA’s industry recognised DeckMark Plus scheme is designed to give formal recognition to timber decking products that have undergone additional, independent testing to industry recognised quality standards. An example would be anti-slip decking boards that have been slip resistance tested or balustrades that have been load tested. A recent addition to this category however, focuses on pressure treated softwood decking that has already been accredited under the Wood Protection Association’s Benchmark scheme. As Benchmark certified components are verified as being compliant with BS8417, the UK’s wood preservation code of practice, it provides a firm foundation upon which to place DeckMark Plus accreditation.

A leading timber processor and supplier in the South West of England, Bond Timber specialises in timber, decking, fencing, flooring and garden products, delivering daily throughout Devon and Cornwall. The company manufactures pressure treated softwood decking that is already accredited under the WPA’s Benchmark scheme. Under Benchmark, the treatment company must demonstrate that it has procedures in place to ensure it consistently meets the standards such as the establishment of a safe working relationship between process and results.

Janet Sycamore of the TDCA comments: “Bond Timber’s accreditation to DeckMark Plus clearly demonstrates the company’s total commitment to quality in the production of its decking and cladding products and the TDCA congratulates the team for their diligence, hard work and dedication to exacting standards. In the case of decking, the WPA Benchmark scheme provides a stringent assessment of pressure treatment standards.  Couple this with a well-run quality management system and you have a win-win worthy of DeckMark Plus.”
