COMPELLING FENCE POST MARKET RESEARCH

AGAINST A BACKDROP OF WALL TO WALL WOODEN FENCE POST GUARANTEES POSTSAVER RECENTLY COMMISSIONED INDEPENDENT MARKET RESEARCH TO GAUGE CONSUMER’S REACTION TO A WOODEN FENCE POST FITTED WITH A GROUND LINE SLEEVE PROVEN TO PREVENT GROUND ROT FOR 20 YEARS.

The research was conducted by Ipsos Mori and covered a sample of 2176 representative respondents across the UK with a 50/50 split between men and women respondents.

Initial questioning covered consumer’s current expectations of wooden fence post life.

In relation to posts with protective sleeves fitted the feedback was wholly positive with 91% of respondents being likely to spend an additional £2.50 for such protection and a substantial 57% saying they would definitely spend an additional £2.50 for a post fitted with a sleeve instead of buying a standard fence post.

When compared to a 15 year guaranteed fence post 86% respondents being likely to buy a post fitted with a post sleeve and 43% would definitely buy this option instead of a post offered with a 15 year guarantee.

These figures clearly demonstrate that there demand amongst consumers for posts with additional protection over and above that offered by preservative treatment be it a standard post or one offered with a guarantee.
