You may not have heard of £2.5 billion turnover, FTSE 250 firm Grafton Group but you’ll most definitely have come across many of their well-known brands.
In the UK, the group is the 3rd largest builders’ merchants and 4th largest plumbers’ merchants, as well as being the market leader in the manufacturing of dry mortar. Just over the water in Ireland it claims top spot when it comes to DIY retailing. It’s also very active within many European markets.
Grafton Group, with 650 branches and 11,000 staff across the UK, is the umbrella business for brands like Selco, Buildbase, Plumbase, and the South East’s leading timber merchants Beaumont Forest Products and T.Brewer.
Building strong and effective partnerships with suppliers is a critical part of their operations. Andy Ferguson is Regional Director for the Beaumont Forest and T.Brewer brands who use Koppers Performance Chemicals as their chosen treatment partner.
Andy comments, “We have even shared stands with Koppers at trade shows, and our links now run deep. They are a trusted partner that deliverson their word.
“With the expansion of the Grafton Group’s portfolio we’ve taken on a number of timber treatment facilities around the UK, and Koppers have proved themselves to be a great partner since becoming our treatment solution provider of choice around four years ago.
“Koppers have a number of specialist treatment solutions that can be a strong asset when securing new potential business opportunities.
“We liked their level of expertise, their range of products and the fact that their Marlow HQ is just a short hop down the M40 from our own base in Ascot,” added Andy.
Looking ahead, Andy is upbeat despite margins coming under pressure from post Brexit, fluctuating exchange rates.
“We’ve started Q1 positively and don’t foresee any major headwinds at this moment in time. We are in a great position to continue growing and continue providing both trade and retail customers with gr eat products at great prices.” concluded Andy.
