Hampton’s Metal Fence Systems Chosen by The National Trust’s Calke Abbey

Fencing Systems Upgrade – Phase 2.

As previously featured in Fencing News, the National Trust’s Calke Abbey in Derbyshire began the upgrade to their fencing systems early last year. Phase two of the replacement of wooden posts and worn fencing in favour of Hampton’s metal post and fence systems is now complete. Combining Hampton NET™ fixed knot deer and stock fencing with Hampton’s metal strainer systems and StapleloK intermediate posts has provided this historic site with the reassurance of durability and longevity that it required.  Calke Abbey will also benefit from Hampton’s 30 year metal post service life guarantee.

‘We have complete confidence in the quality and reliability of our products, offering the 30 year life guarantee for our metal posts supports this commitment and belief that we want to pass on to our customers” said Mark Johnson, Managing Director of Hampton Steel.

Designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest and National Nature Reserve, Calke’s deer park spans 67 acres of parkland so protection of the thirty red deer, eighty fallow deer that roam the grounds is a priority. Ben Chadfield of Chadfen fencing contractors completed phase one of the fencing upgrade and was on site again to implement phase two.

‘We have years of experience as fencing contractors, working for many clients throughout Derbyshire, Staffordshire and the surrounding areas. More and more of our customers are opting for the increased durability provided by metal posts. Hampton’s strainer systems combined with StapleloK is easy to install with less maintenance,’ said Ben Chadfield of Chadfen Fencing

‘We want visitors to Calke to see the views around Calke Park and the livestock without noticing the physical barriers of management. Replacing the old wooden post and rail system with Hampton’s steel system helps us succeed in this. The fence and posts become almost invisible to the eye, perfectly blending with the surroundings’ said Bill Cove, the National Trust Countryside Manager for Calke Abbey.

Supplied in both angle and box strainer options, the metal strainer posts are offered in various lengths suitable for fence heights up to 2.6 metres. The Hampton designed stainless steel post/strut connector allows for multiple struts to be attached to any Hampton strainer post; changes in direction are simple to accommodate where required.

Conveniently located bolts prevent fences from lifting under tension on undulating terrain.

Combined with Hampton’s intermediate metal post system, StapleloK, customers can be assured of a fully integrated metal post system that delivers on quality, versatility, strength and durability.
