MANAGING WOODLAND AT CONFOR SHOW

If there is anything you need to know about trees, timber and woodlands you can find the answers at the Confor Woodland Show…

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago…the second best time is now. With timber and woodfuel prices at a 30-year-high, now is also the time to manage your woodland. Better woodland management not only can provide an income for the farm (tax free) and improve animal welfare but it can also unlock future environmental payments for wildlife, carbon and clean water.

If you want to know more then come to the Confor Woodland Show, taking place at Longleat Estate, Wiltshire, the 5/6 September 2019, the 12th staging of the show is expected to attract over 160 exhibitors and over 2000 visitors.

The rural industry’s key manufacturers will be present at the event and much of the equipment displayed will be designed for smaller woodlands and adding value to even single trees on the farm.
In addition, there will be plenty of opportunities to get advice on how to manage your farm woodlands or how to start planting trees on your estate.

“The show has embraced the farming sector and recognises that many farms have small woodlands or even single trees and that these can still make an important contribution to farm budgets,” said Nick Hoare, Show Chairman.

The Forestry Commission will be on hand to give advice on grant aid, felling licences, planting grants and woodland management grants.
