In February 2021, Lonza Wood Protection announced the agreed sale of Lonza Specialty Ingredients (LSI), of which they were part of, to private equity firms Bain Capital and Cinven. The sale completed in the Summer and on October 21st the new company brand of Arxada was revealed.
Andy Hodge, Marketing Director for the EIMEA Wood Protection business says of the new Arxada brand: “From a Wood Protection perspective, whilst our name and look are new, our heritage runs deep. We have decades of experience in the development, manufacture and supply of wood protection technologies. Our leading product brands – Tanalith™, Vacsol™, Tanasote™ and Resistol™ – will remain the same, and our people and services will continue to reflect our heritage as we move forward together.
“This is a very exciting next chapter for us. Combined the Arxada business has over 120 years of creating speciality ingredients and solutions and have unmatched expertise in the microbial control and specialty chemicals markets.”
With a new brand name, Andy speaks of how Arxada are looking ahead to invest in the future; with a continued focus upon innovation and driving Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) authorised modern actives forward to help make the most of timber’s unique and adaptable properties. The Wood Protection business are also exploring ways to reduce the carbon footprint of the manufacturing process. Andy adds:
“We are excited to be investing in our treatment manufacturing plant in Huddersfield, with the expansion of our Tanalith™ and Tanasote™ production facilities ready for the first quarter of next year. In addition, we are looking at more energy-efficient ways of transportation.”
