As lockdown measures are eased and the world returns to something resembling normal life before the pandemic, we can reflect on how life has changed.

At the start of March Thorndown launched their new range of Peelable Glass Paint Stencil Craft Packs, and new Somerset Heritage Colour Collection for their Wood Paint range at a press launch in London. The pandemic was building and lockdown looming as people gathered in one last event before mass gatherings became a thing of the past.

During lockdown Thorndown enjoyed their busiest season to date for their home delivery service. A large part of the UK sat at home seeing DIY jobs they’d been putting off for years and with shops closed, demand for wood paint rocketed. Although Thorndown had to carry out building work in order to employ more staff to cope with demand, and despite huge supply chain challenges, they delivered throughout the entire lockdown period and have been back to normal home delivery service lead times since the middle of June.

The new Somerset Heritage Colour Collection has proved to be very popular with its beautiful tones and colours inspired by the Somerset countryside. These 18 new colours provide an additional palette to compliment the 48 colours in the Wood Paint range, and are made with the same leading eco water-based technology that makes Thorndown’s Wood Paint so high-performingly brilliant.

Thorndown use architectural exterior-grade colour pigments that perform at the highest levels in weather-resistance and light-fast tests. This collection of eighteen new wood paint colours is rustling with the browns and greens of hill and field, and brimming with the deep reflective blues of the water running through.

Colours and names are inspired by the countryside and flora and fauna within. Muted stone colours sit with Cow Parsley White, an off-white like bone china, Meadowsweet Cream, a deep rich sweet cream, soft rounded browns and a natural translucent green wood. The collection is completed with three classically elegant blues and seven gorgeous greens that take you on a journey through the wetlands of Somerset.
