SPRUCING IT UP WITH ANNANDALE TIMBER

Providing a high quality, well-presented product with a 15-year warranty is the name of the game for Jamie Long of Annandale Timber.

Based at St Ann’s just south of Moffat in Dumfries and Galloway, Annandale Timber has been going since 2009 and supplies customers from Elgin down to Leicester with high quality, incised, kiln dried, machine round and peeled fencing products as well as square sawn in larch and pine. The full package! “We are well placed with the M74 nearby, to service businesses with the right product at the right price down as far as the English midlands,” explained Jamie who has invested heavily in the business in recent years.

Featuring the latest Excalibur incising technology and a Glenfarrow kiln, Jamie and his team always aim to deliver timber that’s fit for purpose for a customer base that encompasses a range of family-owned fencing firms and timber merchants. Jamie went on “We carry out monthly testing through our treatment partner Impra and consistently achieve impressive results that go above and beyond. We have achieved up to a 25mm penetration into our spruce, for example, which is well ahead of 6mm standard. This in turn gives us great retention in the posts that we supply “We take a great pride in what we do by supplying products that last the distance. We can only treat products with the approved chemicals but by utilising incising and kiln drying, we’re able to add those extra layers of quality assurance that ticks the boxes for our customers.

“Whist we’ve focused on larch and pine in the past, supply issues with these species has meant that we are seeing a lot of demand for spruce, especially from south of the border, and therefore it’s critical that we make sure its processed to the highest of standards.

“We source our timber from all over the UK with a particular focus on Scotland and use local hauliers to get our products to the right places on time. “Rest assured, we’ll keep investing in the latest technologies and processes to stay ahead of the game!” concluded Jamie.
