Quality and trust are more valuable than ever, and Walford Timber is proud to stand tall as the partner of choice for fencing contractors, stockists, developers, and property owners across central and Southern England and South Wales.
It’s these core values that have led the company to celebrate its 80th year in business in 2025. With a proud heritage, the company is honouring this milestone with a renewed focus on how it can continue to support the professionals who rely on them and their products every day. From day one, Walford Timber has prioritised serving the needs of its trade customers, particularly fencing installers, merchants, property owners and the construction sector. As a true partner, it aims to provide professionals with more than just quality products; sharing its deep technical knowledge, local availability, and industry-leading durability, all backed by decades of manufacturing expertise.
Contractors can benefit from significant stock holdings at all three branches – Ross-on-Wye, Cheltenham, and Chesham – ensuring that core materials are readily available for both small projects and larger commercial contracts. The Walford Timber team is made up of specialist advisors who have a detailed understanding of the products stocked, and their application. It’s not just about selling products, the brand also wants to support professionals with the tools, advice, and reliability they need to succeed in their own businesses. It’s why at the heart of its identity is the promise that Walford Timber is ‘Made to Last’. This isn’t just a marketing tagline, it’s a commitment that guides every decision, from how products are designed and treated, to how they support customers. Core values to be Trusted, Professional, Conscientious, Sustainable, and Specialists guide Walford Timber through every decision. Whether it’s walking a new stockist through their first order, or offering seasoned contractors technical specs on WPA Benchmark standards, the team works hard to ensure they are clear, sincere, and trade-focused. And thanks to their FSC® and PEFC certification and renewable-powered manufacturing, trade professionals can also promote strong sustainability credentials in their own businesses, which is a growing priority in the market.

Its workshops and processing facilities are located in Ross-onWye, where modern technology meets traditional craftsmanship, and sustainability is built in. Crucially for both installers and end users, Walford Timber also offers bespoke options, bulk deliveries, and a robust installer network in each region, giving back to skilled installers, as well as meeting consumer requirements in the regions it serves.
One Brand, Wider Reach
This year, the strategic decision was made to unify its three retail branches under the Walford Timber name, so customers across the region can trust the quality of the products they buy and benefit from the same additional support. The long-established Cheltenham Fencing and G & M.B. Manning in Chesham are now known as the Cheltenham and Chesham branches of Walford Timber Ltd.
This was done to build on the shared identity of the Walford Timber brand across the three regions, simplify the offering for customers, and celebrating the businesses longstanding heritage. With this strategic move complete, the Walford Timber brand now has presence throughout the Wye Valley, South Wales, Midlands, Gloucestershire, the Cotswolds and Severn Vale, the Chilterns, and across the counties of Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.
As the company celebrates eight decades of business, it is investing not only in its people and facilities, but in the next generation of trade support too. Plans are underway to enhance the Walford Timber digital platform, making it even easier for resellers, installers, and developers to find what they need online.
With 80 years behind them and a powerful new identity for its trading sites, Walford Timber isn’t just a longstanding name in fencing. It’s also a forward-thinking partner for contractors, merchants, and landscapers who want quality and service they can rely on job after job.
