A LOOK BACK CELEBRATING A YEAR OF PROGRESS AT TORNADO WIRE

Tornado Wire, a leading British manufacturer specialising in high tensile steel wire fencing, has had a remarkable year of innovation, growth, and recognition.

From leadership changes to product launches and industry accolades, the past 12 months have been a testament to the company’s commitment to excellence.

Leadership and Vision

In September 2024, Tornado Wire welcomed its new CEO, Rebecca Galley. Reflecting on her first year, Rebecca shared:

“The first year has been full of progress: new product launches, innovation awards, better communication across the business, and improvements for our people and customers. There have also been challenges, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the journey so far.”

Under her leadership, Tornado Wire embarked on a brand refresh to modernise and unify its identity, ensuring it reflects the company’s values and vision.

Innovation and Product Development

Innovation has been at the heart of Tornado Wire’s success. The Pro-Strain® system earned a Silver Award in the Livestock Innovation of the Year category at LAMMA 2025, and a Commendation Award at the RHASS Innovation Awards 2025.

Building on this success, Tornado Wire launched the Pro-Strain i-Post®, an intermediate steel post designed to complement the Pro-Strain® system. It features a plastic component made from recycled agricultural packaging, embodying a “Field to Factory to Field” ethos.

Ian Hedden, Category Manager has joined the team to lead the development of our ancillary items range. Ian brings a wealth of experience from the agricultural retailing world and is passionate about applying that knowledge to help Tornado grow its bought products strategy.

Industry Engagement and Sustainability

Alongside innovation, industry engagement was another focus. Tornado Wire proudly supported the AFI Best Practice Day at Harper Adams University, engaging with respected fencing contractors to promote best practices.

We also became an official Ambassador of the Green Tractor Scheme, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and practical support for British farming.

Manufacturing and Community Involvement

As a new member of Make UK, Tornado Wire participated in the National Manufacturing Day, opening its Millom factory to local schools to inspire the next generation.

We also hosted a Family and Friends Day at our Millom site, celebrating the people behind the brand.

Recognition and Development

Tornado Wire was shortlisted in four categories at the Manufacturer MX Awards 2025:

• Achieving Customer Value

• Product Innovation & Design

• People & Skills

• Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

We again achieved Gold accreditation from Investors in People (IIP), recognising our dedication to employee wellbeing and continuous improvement.

Investing in the Future

Tornado Wire continues to invest in the next generation through apprenticeships in Marketing, Logistics and Manufacturing across our sites. Apprentices benefit from a mix of on-the-job learning and external training, building strong foundations for their careers while contributing to our business.

Leadership development has also been a priority, with managers and team leaders working with Seventh Wave to strengthen skills and drive improvement.

Listening to Customers

To better understand customer needs, Tornado Wire conducted an independent customer satisfaction survey with TLF Research. The insights gained are helping shape future improvements and ensure the company continues to meet expectations.

Sharing Our Story

A brand-new company video was launched, offering a behind-the-scenes look at Tornado Wire – from the factory floor to the field. Featuring team members and contractors like Mark Evans, who said:

“They’re always looking to improve and always asking for our feedback.”
