A NEW CHAPTER FOR HAMPTON STEEL

The leading British-owned manufacturer of high-quality wire fencing and fencing products, Hampton Steel Limited, has entered a new era following the retirement of Mark Johnson as Managing Director after nearly 40 years with the Northamptonshire-based firm.
Patrick Westwood, previously Hampton’s Technical Director, has been appointed Managing Director and will report to Chris Durham and the board of Findlay Durham & Brodie Limited, the London-based company well known in the UK steel industry.
Since joining the company in 2011 as Operations Manager, Patrick, with his background in engineering and manufacturing, has been involved in Hampton’s key milestones in recent times. Coincidentally, 2011 was also the year that Hampton took delivery of its first stiff stay fence machine, the first of its kind in Europe, and launched the HamptonNet™ range of fencing.
Four years later, having rapidly outgrown their previous site, Hampton expanded into additional and larger premises on the Finedon Road Industrial Estate to the west of Wellingborough, where it currently manufactures HamptonNet™, along with other well-known, high-quality brands such as Sentinel® and Rylock® hinge joint fencing, barbed wire, and chainlink fencing.
In 2017, Hampton launched Versalok® and Strainerlok®—a lightweight, highly robust steel fencing and straining system capable of supporting any configuration or height of wire fence. This long-life alternative to timber is guaranteed for 30 years and is 100% recyclable. Versalok® was granted a silver award at the prestigious LAMMA Innovation Awards event in 2019.
Patrick Westwood commented:
*“I am honoured to have been appointed Managing Director of Hampton Steel—now the largest British-owned manufacturer of steel wire fencing in the UK.
“We at Hampton have always taken pride in producing innovative fencing products to meet the rigorous demands of our customers and UK Standards. I am looking forward to working with our team and continuing to build on our success.”*
