CREATING LONG-LASTING, SUSTAINABLE GARDEN BUILDINGS WITH MEDITE MDF

Recently, people have been making the most of their outdoor spaces, which includes having furniture and garden rooms built especially to take on the outdoor elements. Garden building suppliers Timberbox LTD has introduced a new offering to their customers— the ‘PassiveBox’—which is the latest item in their garden building range. This new line of products incorporates three MEDITE MDF products: MEDITE® TRICOYA®EXTREME (MTX), MEDITE VENT and MEDITE MR—all manufactured by MEDITE SMARTPLY, using sustainably sourced pine and spruce from their own forests in Ireland.

MEDITE VENT is used as our structural sheathing board in our diffusion open wall system and MEDITE MR provides a fantastic interior solution for decorative elements that require an element of moisture resistance. It is often used for many elements within our buildings. For example, bar and kitchen carcasses, cupboard doors and boxing in.”

The versatile MEDITE range includes ten different families of MDF which can be used in conjunction with each other to achieve different things.

MTX panels boast outstanding durability and dimensional stability while still maintaining the versatility and excellent machining qualities of standard MDF panels. MTX is particularly beneficial in environments where the weather or high humidity are usually concerns.

MEDITE VENT is a breathable, external sheathing panel that is suitable for use in all types of timber frame structures. With excellent vapour permeability and high weather resistance, the panels also feature high racking strength in excess of Category 1 requirements.

Arthur explained: “Used in conjunction with a MVHR System, the Intello Plus Smart AVCL and a Tyvek Breather membrane, MEDITE VENT is providing an extra line of defence against interstitial condensation within the timber frame, and we are firm believers of the belt and braces approach.”

The moisture resistant MEDITE MR is specially designed for use in interior humid conditions such as kitchens and bathrooms.

Arthur concluded: “By using a combination of MEDITE’s sheet materials in conjunction with other high specification building products, we are able to provide customers with a superb garden room package.”
