It’s a real family affair at DJ Price Fencing, based near Shrewsbury, with recent developments and investment focusing on their manufacture and supply of peeled posts.

“We are very much a family run business,” explained David Price, the second generation of the Price family to be involved. “John, 72, is the senior member of the family who founded the business and is still playing an active day to day role. I’m John’s son and responsible for the buying and selling of the round timber whilst Matt, my son and John’s grandson, is now running the mill.”

Significant investment in a new building on-site has been made with plans for automated technologies to be installed which will give the business an edge when it comes to a wide range of round fence posts. David went on “The new building will allow us to install new machinery that will automate the process and make us more productive and efficient, while still maintaining the high standards our customers already know us for.

“All of our Cundey posts are produced on site which we have recently purchased after moving here 18 years ago. In doing so, we have secured the future of the business and to allow for more investment. Since moving here, we have expanded our operations and continued our growth which has led us to considerably extending our premises. We produce Redwood and white wood stakes and rails and offer traditional round pack and square packings as options to suit our customers’ needs and budgets. We also offer treated or untreated posts which gives the customer flexibility if they have their own treatment facilities and the confidence that it’s been treated to their own high standards.

“We also have a very successful firewood business incorporated into D J Price which John is responsible for, producing nets and loads more for both local businesses and households.

“We have worked hard to build up the business and have some very loyal customers that have supported our growth for many years. We try to get what’s needed for them however challenging this can be at times. Our philosophy here is ‘big enough to cope, small enough to care’ and it seems our name is spreading far beyond the Welsh borders,” concluded David.
