W H Bond & Sons was established in 1957 as a family farming business. Through the years and several generations, the business has evolved and diversified whilst keeping its agricultural background at the heart of the company.

In 2017, W H Bond & Sons acquired IDM Services, which after a successful year of trading was rebranded ‘Bond Agri’, expanding their diversification into farm machinery and equipment hire and sales, alongside the ever-growing timber sales and plant hire and sales. This year the company have expanded by adding a further depot at Holsworthy, Devon which sells a range of plant, farm machinery and commercial vehicles.

A spokesperson commented: “At Bond Timber, our exclusively selected pine stakes are dried to less than 28% moisture content, allowing the cells to accept the maximum amount of chemical. The stakes are exposed to a higher concentration of solution of the market leading Tanalith E 9000 and a five-hour treatment enabling it to have the 30 year service life treatment, compared with the 15 year service life treatment where the timber is pressure treated for 1.5 hours.

“By offering the extended service life it allows farmers and fencing contractors to maximise the service life of their fences. As well as this, Bond Timber is proud to be an approved supplier of NHSS4 treatment for national highway use. In 2017 we installed the Excalibur Pro to allow us to meet the new requirements for the NHSS4 scheme.

“In addition to this Bond Timber carries ISO approval and are the only timber merchant in the country to have the Wood Protection Agency approval for the 30-year treatment. The timber is pressure treated on site at our depot nr Saltash by our qualified and trained staff.”
