SOUTHERN SHEETING INTRODUCES GROUND SCREW FOUNDATION SYSTEM
Building materials supplier Southern Sheeting has launched ground screws which make light work of creating secure foundations for construction projects such as garden offices, sheds and decking.
The system means enthusiastic DIY fans and contractors can forget about complicated, time-consuming concrete slab laying and it is perfect for small to medium building projects, permanent or temporary.
Ground screws do away with the need for hiring specialist construction machinery, or backbreaking digging and are more environmentally friendly than concrete.

Ground screws are ideal for hard-to-access and sloping areas, where it’s not always possible to bring caterpillars and excavators on site. Using the system can speed up the build process because they can be installed in all weather and can support a load immediately – unlike concrete foundations.
The system is an environmentally friendly option. When used to support temporary structures, they can be pulled up and reused. Ground screws can even be recycled. Made of steel, they are more durable than timber posts. The carbon emissions created in the manufacture of ground screws is a fraction of that of concrete.
