THERE IS A NEW SAW SERVICE CENTRE IN THE SOUTH EAST

EPS Services & Tooling has spent the last six months organizing the opening of their third site. The new unit, in Essex, represents a £500,000 investment in machinery, equipment and facilities to open a 2,500 sq.ft facility to support their further growth in the South East of England.

This latest site has enabled new employees to join the EPS team, headed by General Manager Neal Davies. With over 34 years’ experience as a Saw Doctor Neal Davies is proud to join EPS as General Manager of the new site.

Neal explained: “Having worked in a family business since leaving school I wanted to develop further and felt that EPS would provide the perfect platform for me to progress. I am enjoying the challenges thatthis new site brings and look forward to working with new and existing customers of EPS.”

Neal is joined by Head Saw Doctor Christopher Penny who also started his career in the saw sharpening business over 30 years ago in New Zealand where he did an apprenticeship achieving his trade certificate and advanced trade certificate before moving to England in his twenties to continue as a Saw Doctor.

The new site has already employed a driver, admin assistant and offered a saw doctor apprenticeship position to one of the government kickstart applicants and are looking to expand their workforce throughout the first year.

Neal Davies, with the support of the both the EPS Wiveliscombe and Fife sites and Chris Penny, successfully opened the doors to EPS Essex in January of this year despite the covid restrictions.

Based near Chelmsford, the branch provides weekly collections and deliveries to the timber trade across East Anglia and the south east of England and has already added over 60 new customers to their customer base.

EPS has invested in new machinery for this modern facility in order to provide and support local sharpening requirements.

Neal Davies added: “With the new machinery installed EPS Essex has the skills and capacity to sharpen bandsaws, circular saws, machine knives and a large range of small tooling.”

The machinery includes a Vollmer RC100 for automatic levelling and tensioning of bandsaws, an Iseli BNP and new ABM PNK for the CNC wet grinding of bandsaws along with a new ABM CNC 650 for TCT circular saws and 4m Reform Grinder to ensure the accurate sharpening of any knives for their customers.
