BROTHERS UNDER STARTER’S ORDERS FOR A NEW CHAPTER AT G&H FENCING

There will very soon be a changing of the guard at Warwickshire-based G&H Fencing with founders Gary and Sharon Hodson set to step down and hand the reins over to their sons Ryan and Jake.

The business, set to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2027, supplies and installs all types of fencing including welded mesh, palisade, railings, site hoardings, timber fencing, gates, games area fencing and shelters with much of its workload in and around Birmingham.

“My parents have built up a flourishing business over the past four decades,” explained Ryan who has been working for G&H for over a decade, “and it will be down to Jake and myself to pick up the baton and continue with that progress.

“Our dad will still be around in the background to help and advise when needed but it represents an exciting new chapter working directly with my older brother. It will effectively be a merger of G&H Fencing with Jake’s business J&H Tree Maintenance & Landscaping.

“Luckily, we’ve always got on very well!

“We focus predominantly on commercial and industrial markets but also undertake domestic fencing projects which makes up around 15 to 20% of the work we carry out.

“We run three teams of two across the Midlands with two in the office overseeing the admin.

“A lot of our work focuses on factory perimeter fencing and ball courts so mesh in all its forms is invariably our product of choice sourced mainly from Paramount Steel Fence based in Stoke.

“We’re also supplied by the likes of CLD Physical Security Systems and Alexandra Fencing. It gives our customers peace of mind knowing that we’re using some of the most reliable and trusted fencing systems on the market.

“We offer a professional, reliable and friendly service to all customers and pride ourselves on the quality of our workmanship but you can’t beat that feeling when a job is completed!

“We are also very competitive in terms of price and we are more than happy to quote on any type or size of fencing project anywhere in the UK.

“Working alongside Jake, a former National Hunt jockey who’s taken to the saddle at Cheltenham, will enable us to expand our range of services as Jake is an experienced tree surgeon so we will definitely be adding that to the list of what we can offer,” added Ryan, 28, who joined the business on an apprenticeship after leaving school ten years ago.

A keen golfer and supporter of Arsenal, it’s fair to say that it’s been a good year for Ryan!

“We’ve had a solid and positive couple of years and have a solid pipeline of work over the coming months on the back of a customer base that keeps returning so we must be getting it right.

“We do a lot of work on behalf of McDermott Building and Civil Engineering, based just down the road in Birmingham, amongst many others,” added Ryan.

Mum Sharon concluded: “Both Gary and I are leaving G&H Fencing in the more than capable hands of Jake and Ryan and we look forward to seeing the progress they can make over the coming years.

“Since starting out in 1987, we’ve been on a wonderful journey with the business and that is sure to continue under their stewardship.”

It’s looking like G&H Fencing will be going great guns for years to come under Ryan and Jake!
