A CLEAR INCREASE IN DEMAND

In changing and what could be described as uncertain times, it is encouraging to see substantial growth in some sectors. Protek who offer a wide range of products into different markets are seeing an increasing demand for clear and tinted treatments.
“We are uniquely placed to react and help promote the escalating demand for clear and light tint treatments. We are witnessing a move towards consumers wanting their wood to stay fresh and new looking for longer. As if it has just stepped out of the Sawmill!” comments Rebecca Rackstraw, Protek’s Technical Director.
The foremost product Protek have to offer is Restol Wood Oil. It comes in a Clear called Natural UV Extra (contains actual UV blockers) along with Garden Timber Green and Garden Timber Yellow, both are designed to enrich or revive tanalised timber. Restol comes in a comprehensive colour range and is available in retail packs for sale to the public.
The Clear UV Extra has been a huge success and it was used in winning Young Gardener of the Year at this year’s Ideal Home Show. Writtle University College used Restol Clear on their charred timbers with stunning effect. The annual competition, in association with the Prince’s Foundation for Building Community, celebrates young ‘green’ talent.
In an increasing portfolio of products, Protek also offer their Wood Preserver in Clear, along with a range of Clear Top Coats that do not yellow in low VOC water-based systems. These top coats are especially good at delivering a highly water-repellent finish. Protek along with their popular retail range also manufacture in large quantities that suit industrial processes, either as concentrates or ready to use.
