BRITISH OPEN FENCING CHAMPIONSHIPS AND SPEED FENCING COMPETITION SET TO IGNITE APF SHOW 2026
APF 2020 TO HOST BRITISH OPEN FENCING CHAMPIONSHIPS
APF 2020 has announced that it to host the British Open Fencing Championships at the event on Friday 25th September.
Sponsored by McVeigh Parker the event will see 10 pairs of the UK’s best fencers compete head to head to erect 100m of stock fencing against the clock. Entries are now invited via www.mcveighparker.co.uk
The competition will take place during the middle of the threeday event being held at Ragley Estate, Alcester, Warwickshire on the 24/25/26th September this year. The APF Demo is the UK’s largest show for the forestry, woodland, arboriculture and fencing industries. The event attracts around 320 exhibitors and over 20 000 visitors, 90% of whom are trade professionals.
In recent years the show has had an increasing focus on fencing and this continues for APF 2020. There is a dedicated fencing area where on Thursday 24th there will be demonstrations of how to erect the new McVeigh Parker X fencing and on Saturday 26th there will be demonstrations of all the latest fencing machinery and equipment. Most of the main manufacturers will be present and happy to discuss their new products and give advice.
The fencing competition has already generated a lot of interest in the industry so this is an excellent opportunity to exhibit to a very targeted audience. There will be over £60 million of working machinery at the show around a 2000m demonstration circuit. If you have not yet booked a stand then there is still some prime space available close to the fencing arena where you can show your machines and equipment working under realistic conditions. Sites are available from just £1300.00. In addition to your site you will also have the opportunity to demonstrate your machinery working in the arena on the Saturday.

Exhibition Secretary Ian Millward explained “Although we initially started the exhibition 45 years ago with a focus on forestry and
woodland the show has evolved to include other similar industries such as fencing. In recent years we have also embraced the agricultural sector, where fencing is obviously very important but also because farmers are looking to make their small woodlands pay and utilise even single trees by converting then into fencing etc. The show has grown into the major event it is today because we have always concentrated on our core base of trade professionals who come to the show to see and buy new equipment. Our event is renowned as a buyers show. It is about the only event where you can see equipment and machinery actually working. Our visitors area very canny bunch and like to see beyond what the brochures might say! Exhibitors at the show know that 90% of visitors are potential customers. We have always been very careful not to fall into the other shows have by attracting more and more of the general public and seeing exhibitors getting fed up with ‘tyre kickers’. The fencing area has now grown into a major feature at the show and we are keen to develop it even further. We are delighted to be hosting the British Open Fencing Championships this year and we are sure it will attract a lot of interest”

Beyond the fencing area and demonstration circuit there is a wealth of other events to see at the show including The Husqvarna World 25m poleclimbing championships, the A W Jenkinson and Tilhill European Chainsaw Carving Championships, the UK forwarder driving championships, an extensive traditional woodland crafts area, horse logging and many other demonstrations and displays throughout the three days. Tickets are just £20 online in advance or £18 if you are buying 10 or more. Tickets will be available on the gate priced £24.
