BRYCE AND EUROFENCE MECHANISE FENCING IN TRANSYLVANIA

Atilla Pal’s Focus and Determination Bring Rewards in Carpathian Mountains

Erecting fences for controlling brown bears, wild boar, wolves and Carpathian red deer would I am sure be a welcome challenge for many contractors stuck on a daily diet of stock fencing. Not so for Atilla Pal, owner and founder of Eurofence in Transylvania.

In 2008 Atilla Pal made contact with Jock Bryce regarding fencing and he invited him and his wife Orsolya to their trade stand at the Royal Highland Show. Atilla was very focused and a man on a mission and he had a huge passion and desire to become involved with fencing and it was around this time that he met Alec Swan who had a Bryce post driver.

“People warned me that fencing was hard on the hands and it was also very physical. Undeterred, Atilla and Alec did a deal – “you work
with me for no wage but I give you accommodation” said Alec.

Jock said “ Atilla is a very intelligent guy curious about many things and wanting to learn. He was always asking advice about everything to do with fencing like best tools, best net, best suppliers, best species of timber and treatment, earth augers etc etc.

I gave him a lot of my time and based on his experience to date and with limited funds he bought an entry level Bryce HD2 in 2008 . I also put him in touch with a local JCB dealer as he was wanting to purchase a Fastrac which was loaded here together with the post driver.

Atilla is the kind of guy that if he wants something badly enough he will make it happen . After long hours, determination and hard work he purchased a Bryce Vulcan 400 in 2013 and then went on to make enough money to buy a farm and now farms approx. 50 Bison. He is also a Gallagher agent and does instructor training courses. His bison are controlled by electric fencing.

Atilla says “ I learnt from experience by what I see from working with others, I do not read and learn from a book”. Atilla continues “fencing in Transylvania was dig a hole and put a post in – nobody had heard of post drivers . My hard work and Bryce post drivers have helped me grow my business and erect fencing to control brown bears, wild boars, wolves and Carpathian deer. Once customers see and hear what I can offer they are all very happy.

A forest guard shook my hand when he saw my completed fence was 100% successful at controlling all these wild animals. One contract involved fencing round a plum tree plantation in the middle of a forest and they put sheep in to graze the grass under the trees and bees in to make honey from the blossom so there is huge pressure on these fences from bears and wolves. Some trees close to the fence we have to put an electric fence round to stop the bears climbing the trees and jumping in to get to the plums and honey.

The Bryce post driver has been a great success for us in these forest conditions as the telescopic mast gives us easy access under branches, and the hammer can travel from the bottom of the mast up to 4.2 metres high without having to make any adjustments to alter the hammer stroke. The machine is also very compact when it is folded for moving around. We often have to drive posts in difficult positions among trees and that is where we find the quadshift feature really good.

“I have proved that if you have passion for the job and you are prepared to work, you can have success and enjoy what you do. With my Fastrac and Bryce post drivers, modern fencing tools including Stevie of Tornado’s wire and net, we have mechanised fencing in these parts like never before.”

They say that behind every successful man there is a good woman and this is certainly the case with Orsolya, Atilla’s wife who looks after all the administration.

Atilla Pal chose Bryce post drivers because he knew they had a good reputation “ Bryce are recognized as the best, they are tough and you can drive posts in any ground. They have excellent features, are reliable and it can be seen they are designed by someone who has done fencing – Jock knows what is needed .
