EXCITING TIMES FOR PROTEK
Protek wood stain has been steadily growing over the last couple of years with new customers and accounts.
Harriet Farquhar, joint Managing Director, explained: “The pandemic was definitely a catalyst as people ‘stayed at home and painted’. The interest in garden improvements has not diminished.
“This was witnessed first-hand by the Protek team at the recent Glee exhibition at Birmingham NEC in June. The extensive colour range, flexible merchandising and drop ship model were very appealing to the trade and retail customers alike. The change in month (from September to June) seemed to work in Protek’s favour as orders were placed for this season as well as next year. It was the most successful Glee ever!” added Harriet.
ESP Timber and ESP Panels were launched at this year’s Glee event. They represent two new products for the wood manufacturing and construction industries.
ESP Timber is a water-based end grain timber preservative for all cut pressure treated timbers, necessary for those who use pressure treated wood in their manufacturing.
ESP Panels is a water-based panel product sealer, ideal for products such as plywood. For years, the industry has suffered with plywood delaminating due to water ingress, well here is the answer as this product seals and protects plywood, OSB, and MDF board.
Harriet went on: “With a new and improved website, which launched at the start of the year, the business can really boast about being multichannel.
“All this extra demand has meant that Protek have outgrown their existing factory space. A new lease has been signed on a new building that will double the stock holding, increase the production line capacity, allow for a new pigmentation machine as well as a dedicated area for research and development.
“Having the two sites, one dedicated to production and one for finished stock and dot.com sales will streamline our business making us much more efficient. Along with the efficiency we can hold more materials and stock, decreasing lead times and ensuring supply.
“These are exciting times for Protek which celebrates 40 years of making preservatives and paint next year. With the amazing team here it certainly feels like the business is in a great shape and ready for the next 40 years,” concluded Harriet.
