TORNADO WIRE PREPARES FOR MAJOR 2026 FENCING COMPETITION AT THE NSA SHEEP EVENT
GET AHEAD OF THE GAME BEFORE GRANDFATHER RIGHTS END
From 1 January 2020 all skilled cards issued under the industry accreditation scheme (grandfather rights) will have an expiry date of 31 December 2024 and after this date cards will not be renewable unless the card holder has the appropriate qualification. This will apply to all blue, gold and black FISS CSCS cards that have been obtained through industry accreditation.
Fencing and Construction Training Ltd (FaCT) deliver all the qualifications, training and testing required for the blue, gold and black cards, and they have now secured limited, government funding in England to help get the Level 2 qualification for the blue FISS CSCS card. So why not get ahead of the game and get your Level 2 qualification in place before the 31 December 2024 deadline and take advantage of the funding at the same time?
The funded programme will support people to undertake the Level 2 Diploma in Fencing and a week of additional training including the HS training and testing needed for the blue FISS CSCS card. The training week also includes CAT & Genny; abrasive wheels; manual handling; safe use of power tools and emergency first aid.
The training and the Level 2 qualification would normally cost you over £2,000, but with the funding you can save over £1,250 and get the package including your card application for £750 (plus VAT).
The training week is delivered at FaCT’s training centre in south west Birmingham (accommodation is available subject to availability) and the Level 2 Diploma assessments take place where ever you are working, as the assessor will come to your site to assess your work and map to the qualification criteria.
If you are experienced it will probably take your assessor 3-4 visits after your training week, and if you are new to the fencing industry or less experienced it may take 5-6 visits.
To check if you are eligible you need to: be employed; be a UK or EU citizen; be aged 24 or over (on the 1.8.19) – if you are between 19- 23 you must already have a Level 2 qualification (or 5 GCSEs A-C) and you must live in England (devolved authority areas are not included
e.g. London, Bristol, West Midlands, Peterborough, Manchester and Liverpool)
The training weeks are running every month – call FaCT on 0121 476 4731 today to double check your eligibility and sign up to take advantage of this funding to get your qualification for your blue FISS CSCS card.
