Married/Children? Married. So are our two children now!

Position/Company: CEO of the Wood Protection Association.

Previous Employment: I started in the timber industry in the late 70s with Mallinson Denny group, then switched to the wood protection sector – first with Rentokil, then with Protim (later acquired by Osmose) and finally as an independent consultant.

What do you consider the main issues affecting the fencing and landscaping industry? From my sector’s perspective, the independent verification of wood treatment quality and therefore service life expectations. Significant progress has been made on this in recent years, but more can always be done.

What’s been your best idea? Setting myself up as an independent consultant nearly 7 years ago!

And your worst? Not doing it earlier!

What do you like about Fencing and Landscaping News? Always topical and relevant.

Favourite film: Tricky one but I’ll go for Blade Runner.

Beer or Wine: Close call, but wine edges it.

Favourite Food: Almost any curry!

Favourite saying: Treat your neighbour as yourself.

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you take with you: My guitar, a Bible and a Golden Retriever (you have to have someone to talk to, assuming you’re not allowed to take your wife!)

Newspaper you read: I don’t. I get my news on-line, mostly via the BBC.

Favourite sport: Dinghy sailing (preferably single handed).

Pound or Euro: Definitely Euro. I’m a Remoaner to the core!
