The Perfect Partnership: Gethin Lloyd and the Bryce 180 Pro

When Gethin Lloyd, from Denbighshire, started contract fencing 23 years ago, he relied on his father’s tractor-mounted post driver until he could afford a one-man tracked post driver. “I had just moved house and had a small family, so I had to crawl before I could run as far as equipment choice was concerned,” said Gethin.

Now, with two full-time and two part-time employees, Gethin and his team deliver an impressive portfolio of fencing services, including domestic, agricultural stock fencing, equestrian, post and rail, and security fencing.

A Game-Changing Investment

Recognizing the need to save labor and increase output, Gethin prioritized acquiring a tracked post driver. Initially, he opted for a Protech machine, which served him well for four years. However, with a growing workload, he decided to upgrade to a Bryce 180 Pro.

“The Bryce can deal with anything you throw at it, no matter the terrain or ground conditions, and answers the call every time—it never lets us down,” said Gethin.

The Bryce Hole Puncher System

One standout feature of the Bryce 180 Pro is its Hole Puncher System, which Gethin has found invaluable for security and domestic fencing. Unlike an auger or digger, the Hole Puncher creates a clean, tight hole by moving material to the circumference, making it particularly effective in looser, made-up ground with stone or rock hardcore. This feature is equally beneficial on recreational grassland, where minimal disturbance to the site is crucial.

“The Bryce Hole Puncher System has allowed us to secure all the domestic fencing contracts with a local property developer because we can do it for half the price,” explained Gethin.

Durability and Design

After two and a half years of ownership and intensive use, Gethin highlighted the Bryce 180 Pro’s durability:

“There is literally no noticeable wear, which is true testament to good design and build quality. It’s well-balanced and tracks well across slopes.”

Gethin praised its exclusive features and hitting power, which make the 180 Pro stand out among competitors. “The Bryce is not overpriced for what it is. I keep my ear to the ground and study the design and specification of what else is on the market, but from my experience to date, the 180 Pro is the one to go for as far as a dedicated post driver is concerned.”
