SCOTTISH TRIUMPH AT IRISH FENCING COMPETITION
A total of eight teams from across Ireland, England and Scotland recently took part in the Irish Stock Fencing Championship.
Held at the Clonmel Show in County Tipperary on Sunday, 7th July, the number of competing teams increased from last year’s event for a competition that is fast establishing itself as a regular fixture in the calendar for a growing number of fencing contractors.
Jack Bennett of Tornado explained:
“This year’s competition proved to be a great success and attracted the interest of a number of visitors to the show. The brief was to install 45m of Tornado R8/80/22 netting and a strand of barbed wire with a strand of electric wire on the top in three hours. The guys installed two strutted end strainers and one small corner using Octoposts’ new Tanasote treated timber supplied by Loughwood.
“The standard of workmanship was outstanding from all of the competing teams, and it was clear that we had some of the finest fencers around on show. The eventual winning team was Samson Fencing from Scotland, who set the bar by to finish and put up a near-perfect fence.
“In second place were PDR Contracting and SRM Fencing, with the third spot going to Dan Flood Fencing and A D Fencing and Plant Hire. The winners took home a pallet of Tornado wire, with Loughwood donating a pack of Tanasote posts for second place. A Stainrite tools voucher went to the third-place team.
“Everyone enjoyed the day of competition, and Tornado is delighted that their support and sponsorship helped to make the event a real success. We’re all looking forward to an even bigger and better competition in 2025!” added Jack.
