ETC Sawmills Ltd, one of the UK’s largest independent sawmills and a proud supplier of homegrown timber since 1957, is entering an exciting new chapter following significant investment from a new major backer.
This marks a pivotal moment for the business as it strengthens its position within the UK fencing and timber sector.
Modern machinery driving higher capability. The first phase of investment focuses on advanced production machinery, including a postnotching and back weathering machine, a sevenheader, and a double tenoner for arris rails. These upgrades are designed to improve accuracy, increase output, and deliver even greater value to fencing professionals.
At the centre of this programme is a stateoftheart postnotching machine from AV Birch. Known for precision engineering, this system will dramatically increase production of notched and backweathered posts while maintaining the high standards ETC Sawmills Ltd is known for.
Scaling to meet rising demand. Further expansion is already planned, including the installation of an additional sevenheader to boost production of back rails and feather edge boards. With demand for these core components continuing to grow, this investment ensures ETC can scale efficiently without compromising quality.
A safer, more efficient mill. The investment package also includes a brandnew dust extraction system, delivering major improvements in workplace safety, operational efficiency, and environmental compliance- an essential upgrade for a modern, futurefocused timber operation.
Strengthening retail and trade support. ETC Sawmills Ltd.’s growth is also reflected in its expanding retail operations. With two timber merchant branches- one in Chirk and one in the Wirral (Moreton) serving both tradespeople and the public, the company continues to offer exceptional quality, reliable stock, and outstanding value. These strengthened retail sites support longstanding customers while opening the door to new trade relationships and wider market reach.
