TORNADO WIRE PREPARES FOR MAJOR 2026 FENCING COMPETITION AT THE NSA SHEEP EVENT

As the fencing season gathers momentum, Tornado Wire is gearing up for one of the standout highlights of the summer: the 2026 Tornado Wire Fencing Competition, set to take place during the NSA Sheep Event on 28 July 2026 at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern.
With entries having opened earlier in the year, the draw for this year’s competitors is now underway. Interest has been exceptionally strong, reflecting both the prestige of the event and the growing recognition of professional fencing standards across the UK and beyond.

New for 2026: Metal Posts Enter the Competition Arena
In line with the wider shift toward metal fencing solutions within UK and European agriculture, Tornado is introducing a significant update to this year’s specification.
The 2026 competition will incorporate:
• One Pro Strain® metal straining post
• A run of Pro Strain® intermediate metal posts

An International Stage for the Fencing Community
Now firmly established as one of the must-see features of the NSA Sheep Event, Tornado’s competition continues to attract contractors, suppliers, and farming professionals eager to watch top-level fencing in action.
The blend of traditional skills, modern materials and international participation sets the tone for what is expected to be a thrilling contest – and an invaluable showcase for best-practice fencing techniques.

A Three-Hour Showcase of Skill and Precision
Teams of two will once again go head-to-head in an intense three-hour challenge, designed to replicate the pressures and realities of high-quality agricultural fencing.
Competitors must construct a 60 – 70 metre section of Tornado high tensile stock netting featuring:
• Two end straining posts
• A slight turn toward one end
• Full installation, tensioning and finishing within the allotted time
The format remains one of the most rigorous in the industry, consistently highlighting craftsmanship, planning, teamwork and technical ability.

Prizes Worth Competing For
The Tornado Wire competition has always rewarded excellence, and 2026 is no exception:
• 1st Prize – £1,000 – PLUS: The highest-placed UK team will earn the opportunity to travel to New Zealand in 2027 to compete in the legendary Silver Spades competition
• 2nd Prize – £400
• 3rd Prize – £200

We’re also excited to welcome previous fencing competition winners from New Zealand and Ireland, making this a truly international event.
Tornado Wire looks forward to welcoming competitors and visitors to Malvern this July.
