 ROSS POOLE

SENIOR DIRECTOR DANBURY FENCING LIMITED 1955-2020

We are sad to announce the death of Ross Poole, Senior Director at Danbury Fencing Ltd, after a short illness. This has come as a great shock to his family, friends and long-standing work colleagues.

Ross started with Danbury Fencing Ltd in 1974, not long after the company was formed. He began on the tools working as a fencer for many years before taking over the running of the shop and warehouse in the mid 1990’s. He also played a big part in moving the company in 1999 from its original site in Danbury in Essex to the purpose- built premises it operates from today in Witham, Essex. Since being made a Director in 2002 Ross has played in integral part in the management of both the company’s commercial activities and it’s supply and installation arm. Ross had an old-fashioned approach and has high expectations of those whom he worked with but he always led by example and only expected of people what he had either done in the past or was prepared to do himself.

For Gareth Thomas, the company’s Managing Director, Ross has been a friend and mentor throughout his long years of service to the company. Gareth says “Danbury Fencing Ltd is a small company and Ross was a big character, utterly unique and irreplaceable. He is going to be so very badly missed by us all”.

Tributes have poured in for the man that was likened to a stick of rock with Danbury Fencing running through it! For those that knew Ross he was a no nonsense, plain speaking man with no grey areas and he certainly didn’t suffer fools, but behind the gruff exterior was a heart of gold and a commitment to the company that was second only to his devotion to his beloved family.

Our thoughts are very much with them at this sad time.
