CELEBRATING 150 YEARS OF ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE

CELEBRATING 150 YEARS OF ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE

This year marks a remarkable milestone in the history of Stenner Ltd—150 years of continuous service to the timber processing industry.

From our modest beginnings in 1875 as a local agricultural implement maker in Devon, to becoming a respected name in wide bandsaw technology across the globe, our journey has been one of steady evolution, resilience, and dedication to quality.

A Legacy Forged in Innovation

Our story began in the 19th century, rooted in the needs of local farmers. By 1875, we had taken our first steps into sawmilling with the creation of a circular saw bench—an innovation that would shape our future. The early 20th century saw the development of our first bandsaw, a pivotal advancement that improved timber yield and efficiency.

Over the decades, we’ve adapted to changing times. From becoming part of the Heathcoat engineering division before WWII, to embracing new technologies in hydraulics, pneumatics, and electronics in the post-war era, each chapter has strengthened our foundation. The 1960s brought a new identity—Stenner of Tiverton Ltd—and with it, a growing reputation for robust, reliable machinery.

In the late 1980s, amid industry challenges, a management buyout preserved our independence and expertise. And in 2009, during a global recession, we faced one of our greatest tests—emerging from administration with the support of committed investors and a renewed sense of purpose. Today, as Stenner Ltd, we continue to uphold the values that have guided us for a century and a half: craftsmanship, integrity, and innovation.

Our People, Our Pride

At the heart of Stenner’s success are the people who have built and sustained it. Many of our employees have dedicated their entire working lives to the company—a testament to the loyalty and pride that define our culture. Their skill and commitment have ensured that many machines built in the 1960s are still in operation today, a rare achievement in modern manufacturing.

Across the world, thousands of Stenner resaws continue to perform their essential role in sawmills and wood processing plants. We are humbled by the stories shared by proud owners of decades-old machines—stories of reliability, endurance, and trust in the Stenner name.

Innovation with Purpose

While we honour our heritage, we remain firmly focused on the future. Stenner continues to invest in technological advancement, ensuring our machines remain at the forefront of performance while retaining the robust design we are known for. Our global network of partners shares in this commitment, and we are proud to be associated with professionals who value quality and long-term reliability.

Looking to the Future

As we look ahead, our mission remains clear: to build the best wide band resaws in the industry, without compromise. In a time when others may cut corners for short-term gain, we remain steadfast in our belief that quality, service, and integrity are the cornerstones of lasting success.

With Gratitude and Optimism

To our employees, customers, partners, and supporters—thank you. Your trust and dedication have made this milestone possible. As we celebrate 150 years, we do so with deep appreciation for our past, confidence in our present, and excitement for what lies ahead.

We invite you to be part of the next chapter in the Stenner story.
