CLONMEL SHOW HOSTS FIRST IRISH FENCING COMPETITION

The first ever Irish fencing competition, sponsored by Tornado and Scanpole, took place at the start of July with five teams of two contractors from across Ireland taking part.
Hosted by the Clonmel Show in County Tipperary, the event involved the construction of 30 metres of fencing with a ‘slight’ corner and an angle strut/prop at each end.
Dan Flood from Wicklow and Alan Duffy from Cavan emerged victorious following a close contest.
Jack Bennett of Tornado commented: “This was the first time we’ve held the event and it proved to be a great success. We’re already aiming to make next year’s event bigger and better and hope to attract more teams to Clonmel in 2024.
“Tornado were delighted to be involved and provided rolls of our Torus R8/80/82 netting for the competition. Scanpole’s Postplus fence posts were also used by the competitors.
“It’s a big ask getting fencing contractors out in the spare time but they all enjoyed it and we can only envisage this competition going from strength to strength.
“The quality of fencing on show from all of the teams was a true testament to the skills and tenacity of contractors all across Ireland,” concluded Jack.
