Final Installation Stage Underway as A&J Scott Progress with New Mill 10 Construction
A&J Scott have continued apace with their new sawmill construction project on their site in Northumberland, as critical sawmill machinery started arriving in September.
The latest phase has seen the lifting into place of the main HewSaw – Veisto Oy lines, weighing in at 30 tonnes, as well as the installation of the Hedlunds log infeed and by-product handling systems and further progress on the installation of the Kallfass GmbH drop sorter line, marking further significant milestones in the construction of the state-of-the-art sawmill.
Installation and commissioning will continue through the autumn and winter with the new mill expected to begin production early spring 2027. In the meantime, the company continues to run at full capacity on its existing Mill 7 and Mill 9 sawmill lines.
The Mill 10 project represents the largest investment in A&J Scott’s history and will significantly enhance production efficiency, increase capacity and support the company’s long-term commitment to supplying high-quality, homegrown timber products to customers across the UK.
Robert Scott, Managing Director of A&J Scott, said:
“It’s so exciting to see this machinery arriving and taking its place on the newly constructed lines, a real triumph of the teamwork and commitment of everyone involved in the project. Every stage brings us closer to delivering a modern, highly efficient sawmill that will strengthen our business for many years to come. Mill 10 represents a major investment in the future of British timber processing and sustainable manufacturing.”
The completion of Mill 10 will further strengthen A&J Scott’s position as one of the UK’s leading homegrown timber processors.
The company is well positioned for sustained growth across its core markets, including fencing products, railway sleepers and a wide range of outdoor timber products, building on its long-standing reputation for producing quality sawn timber and delivering exceptional customer service to its loyal customer base throughout the UK.
As part of its continued commitment to meeting customer demand, A&J Scott has also expanded its product portfolio to include NHSS4 highways standard fencing, complementing its existing range of timber products.
