FortiPost – Fit for Future Generations, Supporting the Future of Fencing
FortiPost has redefined what fencing contractors and farmers can expect from long-life timber stakes, struts and strainers.
Nowhere is that more important than for the next generation of young farmers. That commitment has now gone beyond the specification sheet: M&M Timber was proud to supply FortiPost as headline materials sponsor for this year’s NFYFC Fencing Competition, firstly through regional heats up and down the country and culminating in the national finals held at Staffordshire’s County Showground.
A Competition Built on Real-World Pressure
During a hotly contested final, nine teams from across the UK went head-to-head to build a 30-metre straight-line fence in just two and a half hours, under time pressure, on firm, dry ground and with a written risk assessment to submit before a single post went in.
Herefordshire’s Dilwyn YFC team took the win for the second year running, with Radnor Federation in second and the Isle of Man third. All three members of the winning team, Ed Thomas, Tim Downes-Hopkins and Andy Bennett already work in the fencing industry and their feedback on the FortiPost timber was exactly the kind of validation the product was designed to earn.
Team member Tim Downes-Hopkins put it simply:
“I found the timber genuinely impressive to work with. It’s clean and consistent all the way through, the kind of quality that makes for cleaner joints and a better finished job”.
Why It Matters: The Features Behind the Feedback
That kind of feedback under competition conditions is no accident. It comes straight from the FortiPost specification:
- A safer alternative to creosote-treated posts, removing the extra PPE and site-specific risk assessment burden that’s increasingly scrutinised across the industry.
- Slow-grown, machine-rounded pine with full sapwood penetration, providing natural strength and market-leading preservative retention.
- In-house pressure treatment at M&M Timber’s own state-of-the-art, automated facility in Clows Top, giving full control over the conditioning and treatment process from start to finish and ensuring preservative reaches deep into the vulnerable sapwood for consistent, long-term protection against rot and decay.
- A market-leading 40-year warranty. A no-quibble, full 40-year replacement warranty. No sliding scale, simple and easier than ever to register.
- Full end-tag traceability, meaning every post can be tracked throughout its working life – auditable, accountable, and easy to verify on site.
Investing in the Next Generation
Fraser Hall, Managing Director of M&M Timber, was clear about why the sponsorship mattered:
“We’re proud to support this competition and play a part in investing in the next generation of farmers. Young farmers are the future of British agriculture and it’s important that they have access to safe, reliable products they can trust to perform for decades to come.”
That sentiment gets to the heart of what FortiPost stands for, it isn’t just a fencing product; it’s a long-term commitment. For young contractors and farmers building their reputations and their businesses on the quality of their work, FortiPost provides the perfect material partner. It provides a safer handling environment for handling and installation, whilst providing absolute confidence with the 40-year warranty.
