Why Aluminium Continues to Grow in Popularity for Residential Gates and Fencing
Material selection has become increasingly important when specifying residential gates and fencing.
Homeowners are looking for solutions that offer long-term performance, minimal maintenance and contemporary aesthetics, while installers are seeking products that are straightforward to transport, handle and install.
As a result, aluminium has emerged as one of the fastest-growing materials in the residential boundary sector. Reflecting this growing demand, F.H.Brundle continues to expand its range of off-the-shelf and ready-to-install aluminium gates and fencing systems.
Off-The-Shelf Aluminium Gates
F.H.Brundle’s pedestrian gates are manufactured from structural aluminium and finished with a durable polyester powder coating. Available in a range of widths and heights, they provide an attractive, low-maintenance solution for a wide range of domestic applications.
Each gate is supplied as a complete installation kit, including hinges, lock, keep and handle, with matching posts available separately where required. Designed for installation flexibility, gates can be configured for left or right-hand hanging and can open inwards or outwards to suit site requirements. The range is available in Black Sand (RAL 9005) and Slate Grey (RAL 7015), with Anthracite (RAL 7016) coming later this year.
Built to Withstand the Elements
One of aluminium’s most significant advantages is its excellent resistance to the elements. Unlike timber, which can be susceptible to rot, warping and weathering over time, and often requires regular treatment to maintain its appearance, aluminium naturally forms a protective oxide layer that helps it withstand exposure to moisture and changing weather conditions.
Combined with a high-quality powder coated finish, aluminium gates and fencing can retain their appearance for many years with little more than an occasional clean.
Lightweight Without Compromising Strength
Weight is another key consideration. Aluminium is substantially lighter than many alternative materials, making gates and fencing easier to transport, manoeuvre and install. This can be particularly beneficial on residential projects where access may be restricted or where installers are working without specialist lifting equipment.
Despite its relatively low weight, structural aluminium offers excellent strength and rigidity. Modern manufacturing techniques allow aluminium gates and fencing systems to provide the robustness and security expected of a boundary solution, while retaining the practical advantages associated with a lighter material.
A Sustainable Choice
Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important consideration throughout the construction and landscaping sectors too. Aluminium is fully recyclable and can be reprocessed repeatedly without losing its inherent properties, making it an attractive choice for environmentally conscious projects.
Matching Aluminium Fencing Systems
To create a fully co-ordinated boundary solution, F.H.Brundle offers matching aluminium fencing systems from its Marano® Connect range. Available in both bolt-down and concrete-in options. A versatile post design allows the same section to function as an end, intermediate or corner post, helping to simplify installation, reduce the number of components required on site and achieve a clean, consistent finish.
Bespoke Solutions for Individual Projects
Looking for something more bespoke? Gates can be produced to virtually any width and up to 2200mm high, providing greater flexibility for projects with non-standard openings or specific design requirements.
Bespoke gates can be configured with integrated decorative screens, horizontal aluminium boards, or WPC infill boards to achieve the desired aesthetic, and can be supplied with all leading brands of gate hardware. Each gate is supplied fully assembled, helping to simplify installation while delivering a high-quality finished result.
Matching driveway gates can also be manufactured to complement your pedestrian gates and fencing, with widths available up to 4750mm. Supplied fully assembled for ease of installation, they can be configured for manual operation or adapted for automation, providing a complete entrance solution tailored to your project requirements.
A Material for the Future
As demand grows for residential boundary solutions that combine durability, low maintenance and contemporary styling, aluminium is set to remain a material of choice. With ready-to-install gates and matching fencing systems available from stock, F.H.Brundle continues to meet these evolving requirements with practical, high-quality solutions.
