 G&O FENCING ARE AHEAD OF THE GAME

If a website is any gauge at all of the health of a business then G&O Fencing Ltd, based in Doncaster, is most definitely on the right track.

Founded in 2018 by two longstanding industry professionals in Paul Griffiths and Nick Oakland, G&O recently celebrated its fifth anniversary and has grown rapidly in  that time to become an established name when it comes to commercial security fencing right across the UK.

Nick, 35, took up the story: “Paul Griffiths has over 30 years experience in the fencing industry whilst I have had around 17 years. We formed G&O Fencing Ltd having met at a previous company in the same trade.

“Paul gained his experience through initially working on the tools for various companies before moving into management, I was office based from the outset and have worked my way through various roles such as sales manager, contracts manager, area manager etc. We had both worked for some of the countries leading fencing contractors before deciding to setup on our own” added Nick. G&O currently employs 12 with a nationwide coverage.

Nick went on “We have recently worked in Scotland, Wales, Essex and Norfolk as well as Yorkshire so it’s fair to say that we operate right across the UK. Our focus is on security fencing mainly for the retail, commercial, industrial, healthcare and education sectors.

“We have worked on a number of high profile schemes since our formation with clients including Jaguar Land Rover, LIDL, Home Bargains and Arnold Clark.

“We were confident from the outset that with our knowledge, contacts and customer base we both had what it takes to go far and build a strong company that could thrive in the industry for years to come. Five years on and we have progressed year upon year, increasing turnover, staff numbers and repeat custom etc.

“We have reached the goals we set ourselves and believe we can continue to do that moving forward.

“We are happy with the current setup and feel it’s reflected in our recently revamped web presence. It would be great to add a few more installation teams in the coming years but just maintaining our current stance, which is quality work on time and on budget, will keep us forging ahead.

“Covid was a challenge but we overcame that with careful planning and good financial management. Material price hikes and shortages have affected us at times, just like everyone else but seem to be settling down a bit now. We have a strong order book for the next few months and are tendering for a lot of high quality projects which we hope will be a sign of a good year ahead,” he added.

Nick came across web designer Todd Pitcher of Semibold through LinkedIn during a random search and made contact.

“His ideas were fresh and bold,” continued Nick “and I knew instantly he’d be able to build us a great website. His knowledge has proved invaluable and we have received many e-mails and social media comments to say how well the new site looks. It is already generating new leads which was obviously part of the plan.

“We also use other forms of social media such as Linkedin and Facebook as well as a tool called Barbour ABI which gives us new leads and info on construction projects up and down the country although much of our custom is repeat.

“Every day is different and we get to visit some great places travelling around the UK. Nothing beats a neat and tidy completed project and we always gather great images, including drone footage, that are used for marketing purposes,” added Nick.

“Paul’s daughter Jessica and son Daniel have recently joined the business to further enhance our organisation within the office. We also have contracts manager Scott Battle working for us. Scott has a wealth of experience and joined us in 2021, his knowledge of the industry has already proved invaluable.

“We had a very strong year in 2023, our best yet, this is testament to the hard work of all our staff and I’m proud of the achievements and progress we’ve made to date, we’ll be working hard to ensure this continues into 2024 and beyond,” Nick concluded.
