IN SUPPORT OF GROWN IN BRITAIN WEEK IN OCTOBER CHARLTONS HAS SPONSORED THE PLANTING OF 20 TREES

The trees are predominantly planted in school grounds, reserves and managed woodland where they will live their natural lifespan and meet their biodiversity targets.

Charltons are proud to be manufacturing products from timber which is one of the most sustainable building products. The objective is to keep the environment in balance and this principle permeates through many of our policies and actions.

Our sawmill was designed to suit the locally available round timber supply. All of the trees we receive are fully converted into some form of product and nothing is wasted whether it be sawn timber, woodchips, sawdust or firewood.

Our usage of fossil fuels is being reduced and minimised wherever possible with biomass heating being used within the manufacturing operation. Each tree planted helps to offset our environmental impact by “breathing” in CO2 emissions as it grows. The trees also provide sustainable habitat for wildlife and will enhance the natural landscape with native broad-leaved trees.
