KDM reflects on an extraordinary year and prepares for whatever 2021 will bring.
Its not with any certainty that anyone could’ve predicted what has been such an extraordinary year and life within the manufactured garden
products division at KDM has been no different as Sales Director Ivan Walshe hinted, “Covid 19 has thrown up so many challenges for us all in so many aspects of both our personal and business lives. Uncertainty and doubt in trading conditions in March lead to a surge in demand throughout the Spring, Summer, Autumn and even now so many of our customers are still reporting strong demand for garden products”.
Significant changes to on site trading and spikes in on-line sales lead to many customers experiencing previously unknown levels of demand. Interruptions in the supply chain as demand for all timber products grew across Europe meant that it has been a challenging time for all aspects of the trade. Ivan went on to add, “It has certainly been one of the most difficult trading environments we have known for several years as landed stock has varied from record highs in March to scarily low due to customer demand and there has been no let up at all. So we would like to especially thank our customers for all their understanding and business and our
suppliers for their continuous work in replenishing stocks during this testing time. It has been a successful year and we are very proud of the quality and variety of products that we are able to offer from both our distribution depots in Wakefield & Bury St Edmunds which enables us to offer a genuine nationwide delivery service of both part and full loads”. But the KDM team are now very much focussed on the 2021 season and preparations have already begun in earnest as KDM’s Jim Menzies suggests, “Our aim is now focussed on restocking for next season and preparing for another busy period. Our 2021 brochure is ready to go along with our new website set to launch in January so its full steam ahead”. He goes on to add, “…our aim remains undoubtedly to give customers a high quality and broad range of manufactured garden products that can also be combined with our machine rounds, sawn fencing timbers, decking and accessories”. Ivan Walshe concludes, “There a few signs on the horizon that we may get some normality back at some point next year but without a doubt KDM will be ready to go and we look forward to another good but less stressful year”.
