KDM: SETTING THE STANDARD IN TIMBER
2024 has been a challenging year for all businesses involved in the timber industry.
The outdoor sector is no exception, whether we are looking at domestic, commercial, or agricultural markets. Consumer spending has reduced, leading to a very competitive market place.
The UK economy is still in a difficult position. However, with some positive news regarding investment into the new build sector, this will hopefully stimulate demand and kick start the all-important housing market for 2025.
To prepare for the new season and reacting to an ever-changing market, at KDM we have continued to develop our product range, increased our distribution facilities, and made further investments into our IT facilities, all to ensure we can provide the highest levels of service. KDM’s extensive domestic, commercial, and agricultural range covers all aspects of timber fencing, from entry-level products and designs to the most intricate high-quality triple painted products. All available on mixed load deliveries from landed UK stock. No doubt there will be some challenges but also opportunity, and where possible it is up to KDM to facilitate those opportunities. Whether this is through quality of products, product range, service levels, or landed stock, they are all key factors in managing every sales opportunity.
For 2025, KDM are pleased to confirm the expansion of their very successful Superior Double Slatted panel, now including five, four, and three-foot height options as standard landed stock items from both depots.
The introduction of our Superior Double Slatted panel and gate, for 2024, in an Anthracite Grey option has been extremely well received with sales exceeding all expectation. Both are held in stock at Wakefield & Bury St. Edmunds, available for immediate delivery. In order to maintain their appearance and provide longevity, each panel and gate is applied with three coats of paint. Between each coat and after the final application, they are dried to 18-24% moisture content. All panels and gates are vertically packed, individually protected, and top wrapped. With minimal maintenance, the rich colour will remain for up to 7 years. The contrast of painted panels in a colourful setting makes for an uplifting and striking appearance.
To satisfy the growing DIY sector and to complement our highly successful green pressure treated 25mm x 50mm PAR battens, KDM are introducing the planed battens, triple painted in Anthracite Grey. Over the last few seasons, we have witnessed an increase in demand for high-quality fencing components that enable the DIY enthusiast or contractor to complete any project in style and elegance.
Due to the growing demand for high-quality agricultural and equestrian fencing, at KDM we have increased our stock holding of creosote and UC4 products. All KDM’s warranty products are produced from carefully selected slow-grown pine, kiln-dried, and pressure-treated with the highest quality preservatives.
KDM takes its responsibility to only purchase sustainable timber from reliable sources extremely seriously. KDM is accredited as a Responsible Purchaser under the Timber Development UK Responsible Purchaser Programme. As part of this scheme, we are audited annually in respect of our compliance with the United Kingdom Timber Regulations. The company is also taking steps to comply where appropriate with the European Deforestation Regulations (EUDR) which will apply from 30 December 2025, and ensure EUDR information where it is required by our customers. KDM also holds FSC and PEFC chain of custody certification.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers for their continued support and hope for a successful 2025.
