KNOW THE SCORE WITH PERRETT
They say a change is as good as a rest, the adage rings true for Perrett Fencing, based at Middlemarsh near Sherborne with the company recently streamlining its business operations to become a leaner, fitter firm.
Tony Perrett, who founded the business in 1996, has gone on to develop the Perrett Post Plate which has found a market with contractors across the UK.
Tony’s son Tim now manages the business and was keen to institute improvements.
Tim explained: “We run two/three teams for projects across Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire and have a busy pipeline of work in progress. I head up one of the teams with my business partner Sam Baker leading the others.
“Covid really helped to change the way we do business as my mum Averil came back to the business to run the office along with Char who we recruited to help. They are proving a formidable team when it comes to getting us all organised! “

“We can now just crack on and carry on fencing safe in the knowledge that there’s an office dealing with enquiries, processing quotes, ordering materials, and invoicing five days a week.
“It really has changed how we operate. My whole business model is based on being agile and responsive and we’re achieving that with our new organisation.
“There’s still dramas as with everywhere but there’s a peace of mind knowing that there’s a structure and work processes in place to cope,” added Tim.
Whilst Perrett Fencing continues to innovate and improve, the same can be said for the Perrett Post Plate; the expertly engineered postknocker plate that aims to reduce damage to fence posts.
Tim went on “We never stop trying to improve the plates and listen to our users, it’s great to know posts tops are being left cleaner from a little idea Dad had, while making the job more enjoyable”
Meanwhile, the business has recently decided to enter into a three-year sponsorship deal with North Dorset Rugby Club to fund their new electronic scoreboard.
Tim continued: “Many of the lads who work for us also play for the club and it made sense to help support the community in this way.
“At least this way everyone will know what the score is with Perrett Fencing!” concluded Tim.
