MECHANICAL POST DRIVER TRAINING COURSE
Fencing & Construction Training Ltd (FaCT) has a new addition to their training portfolio – Mechanical Post Driver Training course.
The course is a half day course combining the theory and practical elements of safe operation.
FaCT’s MD Tim Drew said “We developed the course because several of our clients asked for it. We deliver it at the client’s site so that we can include the practical side of using their own machine; and all that is needed for us to deliver this training is somewhere for the delegates to be able to sit to take part in the theory side and then ana area where the machine can be used.”
The theoretical part of the course covers H&S law; identify and controlling hazards; operator controls; pre-start and post-start checks; safe operation including ground conditions; travelling and working on slopes, checking for underground services and overhead powerlines; secure shutdown; and best practice
for loading and unloading when transporting on a trailer.
This course covers all types of post driver; tracked- self-propelled tractor mounted as well as lorry or excavator mounted machines. The course also includes all aspects of operator safety for lone working to awareness of changes in the working environment, as well as the practical elements of the machine and the importance of routine maintenance.
The practical part of the course gives the delegates the change to use the machine under the supervision of the trainer and gives everyone the opportunity to see best practice. There is an end of course assessment and the course is certificated for three years.
Tim Drew continued “We can train up to 12 delegates in a half day session and the client can have a different half day course in the afternoon; so, it’s ideal if they need location of underground services, safe use of abrasive wheels, manual handling or safe use of power tools as we can deliver one of these courses in the afternoon session to make it more cost effective for the client and the delegates.”
