PLYMOUTH ARGYLE’S PROGRESS WITH 20-YEAR-OLD BOND TIMBER
Leading South West-based timber treatment processor and supplier Bond Timber celebrated twenty years in business in 2023.
Throughout their journey the company, based near Saltash in Cornwall, has consistently demonstrated support for the local community through the sponsorship of a wide variety of sports teams, events, and community projects including, most recently, as principal partners and shirt sponsors of EFL Championship side Plymouth Argyle for the 2023/24 season.
Bond Timber is part of W H Bond and Sons, a family farming business that is still involved in farming, bespoke civil contracting as well as equipment sales including classic heritage tractors.
There’s been plenty of plaudits and accolades over the past two decades with noteworthy achievements that include winning two BALI awards at the BALI National Landscape Awards in 2023 for works at Kilhallon, St Blazey on the StARR Flood Defence scheme.
A Bond Timber spokesperson commented: “The company remains committed to delivering high-quality timber providing a quality service to customers throughout Devon and Cornwall and continues to be proud and proactive members of the Timber Decking and Cladding Association as well as Wood Protection Association.
“Bond Timber’s reputation as a leading timber processor is enhanced by our state-of-the-art treatment vessels which are operated in collaboration with Arxada’s Auto Treater technology.
“The business continues to treat selected, air-dried, pine fencing stakes to a 30-year service life approved by the WPA and supplied to many organisations and stockists throughout the West Country.
“From our site at Saltash the company boasts a range of cutting-edge machinery, including six head moulder planers and an Excalibur Incisor. We are accredited to supply timber treated to the National Highways Sector Scheme 4 standards and widely distribute our goods to various businesses and stockists throughout the South West, particularly in Devon and Cornwall.
“Having 2 moulder planers in house means that the company is well positioned to machine a wide range of claddings from Western Red Cedar to Douglas Fir and Larch.
“In addition to their business success, Bond Timber has maintained a longstanding tradition of sponsoring sports teams and individuals. Our continued partnership with Plymouth Argyle, initiated in 2011 when Bond Timber stepped in as the main shirt sponsor, played a pivotal role in averting financial challenges for the club.
“The ongoing support has culminated in Bond Timber being the main shirt sponsors for the 2023/24 season which has been marked by record-breaking home shirt sales.
“Bond Timber looks forward to building upon this legacy of success, community engagement and trusted strategic partnerships as we continue to contribute to the growth and development of the South West region.”
