Some fencing contractors will go to the ends of the earth to get the job done!

Take Richard Foxley, a fencing contractor based at High Peak in Derbyshire who has just returned from a two month stint in Antartica working as a machine driver for the British Antartic Survey at the Halley VI Research Base on the Brunt Ice Shelf.

Richard explained: “I was out there driving bulldozers and other machinery around the base. It was hard graft for 12 hours a day.

“It was only when I got home that I had time to reflect on what an adventure I’d been on.

“When you’re down there you focus on the job at hand but when other people show interest in the visit you realize you’ve been somewhere special!” added Richard.

Richard was a judge at last year’s fencing competition at the Driffield Show and will be assuming the same duties at this year’s event.

“It’s a great occasion at Driffield and an honour to be able to judge some of the best fencers in the UK however I adamantly refuse to wear a penguin suit whilst there!” concluded Richard.
