ROBINIA TIMBER MAKING AN IMPACT

 ROBINIA TIMBER MAKING AN IMPACT

More durable than both Oak and Sweet Chestnut, Robinia timber is making an impact when it comes to fencing, sawn timber and play equipment.

Offering a durability class 1-2 (British Standard EN 350-2), it has more stability and rot resistance and is a listed durable hardwood that can be used for grant funded fencing projects, FG1, FG2 etc.

A spokesperson for Robinia Timber commented: “It does not require any chemical treatment to extend its durability and has been known to last up to 40 years when used outdoors and in contact with the soil.

“Robinia posts have a minimal processing requirement and are not machine round or excessively manufactured.”

“They have no chemical treatment, ensuring that no harmful chemicals such as copper bromide and other toxic ‘biocides’ can leach out and cause unnecessary pollution.”

“Robinia is a relatively fast growing tree (circa 25-30 years) and is generally regarded as an extremely sustainable source of timber. Fast growth creates a low environmental impact, and makes robinia forests great carbon sinks.

“The robinia tree is also nitrogen fixing, boosting the fertility of the surrounding soil.”

“Robinia is a coppiceable tree and great for sustainability however, where coppicing is not achieved, harvested trees are replanted to keep the forests regenerating.

“Robinia is the natural choice for people wanting sustainable timber that has a positive impact on the environment.
