THE PANELMASTERS CONTINUE TO INNOVATE

They’re still at it…and they’ve definitely still got it!

The Warwickshire-based duo of Bob Ball and Brett Smith, founders of Southam Automation Ltd, continue to operate at the cutting edge of fencing panel technology.

Brett explained: “Last year proved to be successful and it’s looking like 2023 will be another good year for Southam Automation and our Panelmaster machines despite the economic doom and gloom.

“We’re getting a regular flow of orders in from right across the UK and Ireland and are busy manufacturing new Panelmasters at our 3000 square foot workshop in Fenny Compton near Banbury,” added Brett.

The business currently employs four with more recruitment likely over the course of 2023.

“We are continuing to service our customers’ new machines but are also in the process of building modified machinery that can manufacture the new Tongue and Groove fencing panels which seems to becoming very popular.

“The Panelmaster machine will always be known for the consistently high-quality feather edge panels it can produce but we are adapting it to deal with a growing demand for Waney panels. The wheel turns full circle as we started out making machines that manufactured Waney panels over three decades ago.

“We’re gradually innovating and responding to our customers’ needs. Many of the machines we build are bespoke but we always aim for maximum reliability and quality and aim to go above and beyond when it comes to customer service.

“The Panelmaster is a brilliant labour-saving machine. There’s also a range of grants and tax kickbacks available if you’re looking to invest,” added Brett.

Brett and Bob are always keen to extend a welcome to anyone interested in exploring the tried and tested benefits of the Panelmaster, a machine developed several decades ago that is still going strong at numerous timber and builders merchants across the British Isles.

Brett went on “We regularly welcome potential customers to our manufacturing facility and take them over to visit a couple of our local customers.

“We might even buy them a pint!

“We both still get a buzz out of what we do and I think many of our customers recognise that. Both Bob and myself are engineers and inventors at heart and it’s great to still be building machines that help to build great businesses!” concluded Brett.
