WANT TO GET THE BLUE FISS CSCS CARD?
Following changes to the funding rules and opportunities in England, FaCT has updated the options available through their centre to gain the blue skilled fence installer card.
For under 19s the Fencing Apprenticeship includes the Level 2 qualification, an extensive programme of training and is heavily supported by government funding (England only). It is a 15-24 month programme with work- based on-site assessments for
the Level 2 Diploma in Fencing (the qualification required for the blue FISS CSCS card); plus 2 – 3 weeks of classroom-based training spread over the duration of the programme.
The training includes the HS training & testing, cable avoidance, abrasive wheels, emergency first aid at work, safe use of power tools, manual handling, practical fencing skills, 17 on-line courses, and if required maths and English. Cost to the employer is £350 pp and there may be an additional grant available of £1,000.
If you are over 19 there are two options to obtain the blue card:
Option 1 includes the Level 2 Diploma work-based assessments and a week of additional training so giving you the added advantage of extra certification including the HS training & testing, cable avoidance, abrasive wheels, emergency first aid at work, safe use of power tools and manual handling. It should take three to six months to complete the assessments and training and will cost you £750 pp – saving you £1,100 (England only).
If time is precious and
you don’t need the additional training, then option 2 is for you. This route isn’t funded but the qualification can be completed (via work-based assessments) in two – six months and the cost is £1350 pp.
Option 2 is available across the UK as it is not funded (Funded options are only available in England and funding is subject to availability and eligibility).
